Poetry Books Addressing Life’s Trials
As human beings, we are social creatures who crave connection with others. This innate need for touch and interaction is why the 2020 pandemic lockdown was so challenging for many. People often share that what they missed most during the shutdown was the simple act of hugging and being hugged. The other day, my kitty was lying on my lap while I worked, purring lightly. When I rested my hand on her rib cage, her purring intensified. That moment reminded me of the power of human touch—it calms, reassures, and strengthens bonds.
Even though I often see myself as a bit of a loner, I deeply value interactions with friends—those moments filled with laughter, inside jokes, a great glass of wine, and the unspoken understanding that we are always in each other’s corner, no matter what life brings. These cherished connections are often beautifully captured in poetry books addressing life’s trials, which remind us of the resilience and comfort we find in each other.
Having a strong support system is vital to our health and well-being. Life is beautiful but can also bring challenges and hardships. During such times, we rely on friends who stand by us and say, “I got this.” Sometimes, we provide support; other times, we lean on others for strength. These relationships form a foundation, helping us navigate the trials of life with courage and resilience. Whether it’s a close group of friends or one special person, they’re the ones who lend a hand, help us up, or keep us steady when life tries to pull us down. They ensure we never walk the path alone.
This poem from Gather Seeds of Hope is a tribute to those friends—our chosen family. These are the people we share life with through joys and sorrows, the ones who make our journey meaningful. They may not share our bloodline, but they are family in every sense of the word. As we face life’s challenges together, their presence is as comforting as the verses in modern poetry collections, capturing the essence of friendship. These are the people who inspire poetry books addressing life’s trials and embody the beauty found in poems about friendship. God willing, we’ll grow old and gray with them, cherishing the bonds that make life extraordinary.
Your Hand in Mine
In this life there are many paths
And many roads we’ll travel.
Some roads will be bumpy,
And full of rocks and gravel.
As we walk among the rocks
We may feel our footing slip,
And we might start to tumble
As we quickly lose our grip.
On these paths, where we may fall
As the ground begins to shift,
Put your hand inside of mine,
And I’ll give you a lift.
In our lives, there are rainy days
And many storms we’ll weather.
So put your hand inside of mine,
And we’ll dodge the rain together.
When you can’t hold your umbrella
Because your arms feel much too weak,
I will hold it up above
To provide the shelter that you seek.
For day to day are burdens
That are too heavy to carry.
Month by month, they weigh us down
And make us feel so weary.
In these times, when you cannot cope
With the struggles of the day,
Put your hand inside of mine,
And I will lead the way.
But not all roads are rocky;
Some are smooth and paved.
And as we walk among them,
We are peaceful and unscathed.
For life is tough, that is a fact,
but it’s not always so.
We need to embrace these carefree times
When we let our troubles go.
But even in these joyful times
As we walk along the path,
It’s nice to have a friend nearby,
To run and skip and laugh.
During times like these,
We may feel lighter than a feather.
So put your hand in mine,
And we’ll skip down that road together.
When the hard times do return
And your faith begins to yield,
Put your hand inside of mine,
And I will be your shield.
As we both grow older
And our strength begins to wane,
We’ll put our hands together,
And be each other’s cane.
